Responsibilities
Design and develop ambulance layouts, components, and systems (electrical, mechanical, and structural)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., KKK-A-1822 F as amended, CAAS GVS 4.0 standards)
Remain well-informed regarding applicable FMVSS, NHTSA, SAE, and NTEA AMD standards
Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, and vendors to incorporate feedback into designs
Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation
Conduct design reviews, testing, and validation of ambulance components and systems
Recommend improvements for safety, ergonomics, and efficiency in ambulance design
Provide technical support to production and service teams as needed
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations relevant to emergency vehicles
And other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of engineering experience in vehicle design, preferably in specialty/emergency vehicles
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems
Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
Preferred
Familiarity with ambulance regulatory standards
