Responsibilities

Design, develop, and evaluate emission inventory methods to support rulemaking and photochemical modeling for assessing regional air quality. Provide datasets, conduct quality assurance, and review inventories from other agencies, consultants, or internal projects
Design, develop, validate, and prepare emission inventory data for use in regional air quality modeling platforms, including CMAQ and CAMx. With guidance from regional modeling or external specialists, create model-ready emission inventories using EPA’s SMOKE processor. Provide modeling data to external partners such as NOAA, NCAR, consultants, researchers, and academia. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during data preparation, processing, and modeling for major projects like SIPs. Transfer emissions data in usable formats and troubleshoot transfer issues

Develop methods to solve air quality problems, report results, and use them in other projects. Gather and integrate geospatial, time-based, and detailed emissions data, along with activity metrics and monitoring results, for use in air quality modeling. Manage data using relational databases like MySQL and Microsoft Access. Use EPA post-processing tools (SMAT-CE, GIS) to allocate, visualize, and verify emissions data and model results.
