BPG Designs, LLC is seeking an Asphalt Foreman to lead and manage a crew specializing in asphalt paving and repair. The role involves planning, executing, and supervising restoration projects while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and motivate a crew of 3-5 members (laborers, operators, and truck drivers)
Ensure strict adherence to all company, federal, and local safety regulations (OSHA, MUTCD). Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and toolbox talks
Train crew members on proper paving techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures
Set performance expectations, monitor output, and address any personnel issues or inefficiencies
Review job specs (location, size, scope of work, materials required) and coordinate with the Superintendent. Ensure all necessary permits, traffic control plans, and utility clearances
Oversee all phases of asphalt restoration, including:
Trench excavation and backfilling stabilization
Sub-grade preparation and compaction
Tack coat application
Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) paving, raking, and spreading
Operating and directing roller/compaction equipment to meet density specifications
Ensuring smooth transitions and correct tie-ins to existing pavement
Monitor material temperature, compaction levels, mat smoothness, and layer thickness to guarantee a high-quality, durable finished product that meets engineering specifications
Manage and track all material (asphalt, aggregate, tack), equipment, and labor hours efficiently to minimize waste and stay on budget
Complete and submit accurate daily production reports, timecards, equipment logs, and safety documentation
Act as the primary point of contact on site, resolving technical issues, unforeseen challenges, or material delays immediately
Professionally communicate with General Contractors, utility representatives, inspectors, and the public regarding job progress, timelines, and site access

Required

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 1-2 years in a Foreman or supervisory role
Expert understanding of asphalt mix types, compaction techniques, paving equipment operation (pavers, rollers, skid steers), and proper road/trench base preparation
Proven leadership and crew management ability
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and specifications
Proficiency with basic construction math and leveling tools/devices

Preferred

Restoration, maintenance or utility-related paving experience is highly preferred
CDL preferred
OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification and MUTCD/Traffic Control certification preferred
