Residential Specialist

Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) is a nonprofit serving Kansas City for over 50 years, dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. As a Residential Specialist, you will ensure safe, supportive, and person-centered homes while overseeing daily operations and leading a team of Direct Support Professionals.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Oversee daily residential operations to maintain safe, clean, and person-centered home environments
Coordinate medical appointments, transportation, follow-up care, and communication with nurses and service coordinators
Ensure medication documentation (MAR/eMAR), physician orders, and Therap records are accurate and up to date
Train, mentor, and support DSP and Lead DSP staff; monitor training, delegations, and compliance requirements
Conduct weekly site visits to review medical documentation, safety checks, financial ledgers, and food inventory
Complete and submit required event reports, site-visit forms, and monthly directive follow-ups
Support ISP/Annual Plan processes, attend service monitoring meetings, and ensure staff review and acknowledge individual plans
Ensure emergency drills, safety procedures, and maintenance requests are completed and documented
Lead staffing efforts: schedule teams, approve timesheets, document attendance, manage occurrences, and support evaluations
Provide crisis intervention, behavioral support, companionship, and advocacy for individuals as needed
Oversee household budgets, petty cash, menu planning, food/supply purchasing, and spending according to guidelines
Participate in the on-call rotation and provide direct coverage when needed

Required

High school diploma or GED
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or a related field
Valid MO Class E or KS Class C driver's license
Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in group homes, ISLs, and community settings

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in social services, education, rehabilitation, or a related behavioral science field
2+ years of supervisory experience in IDD services
Experience with individualized program development, medication administration, and Therap documentation
