Responsibilities
Reviews plans with engineering team to clarify specifications for laser devices
Interprets instructions for production workers who grind the mirror blanks and machine metal parts and install and align them
Operates vacuum pumps to empty laser body, refills it with the specified number of gases, such as helium, carbon dioxide, or neon, checks pressure, and performs required tests
Assembles laser device in chassis and connects regulatory dials and switches
Sets up electronic and optical instruments to test laser devices at various electrical or optical inputs
Also tests for gas leaks
Analyzes and reports test findings to engineering team
When results indicate problems, the technician will suggest ideas for consideration by project engineers
Qualification
Required
Highly proficient in operating tube laser equipment
Ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams
Experience in examining blueprints and specifications
Skill in analyzing test results and providing insights
Ability to construct, test, and repair prototype gas or solid-state laser devices
Familiarity with engineering layouts and specifications
Ability to interpret instructions for production workers
Experience operating vacuum pumps and performing gas refills
Ability to assemble laser devices and connect regulatory dials and switches
Experience setting up electronic and optical instruments for testing
Ability to test for gas leaks
Skill in analyzing and reporting test findings
