Inventory and Store Specialist V - Commissary Manager - Luther Unit (920375)
Texas Department Of Criminal Justice is seeking an Inventory and Store Specialist V - Commissary Manager. This role involves performing advanced inventory and retail sales work in a unit commissary, coordinating operations, and ensuring compliance with security requirements and loss prevention controls.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Coordinates commissary operations; sells merchandise to employees and inmates; and ensures accurate recording of commissary sales and receipts
Coordinates, schedules, and conducts periodic inventory of stock and merchandise; determines quantities of merchandise needed to maintain adequate inventory; coordinates the disposal of surplus property and the rotation of merchandise; reconciles inventory records with asset accounting records and resolves inventory-reporting discrepancies; and monitors, inspects, and maintains cleanliness and appearance of the commissary
Reviews and approves requisitions for replenishing supplies and merchandise; reviews invoices for accuracy and confirms the receipt of items requested; prepares and reviews inventory control records and reports; and monitors inventory databases
Supervises the work of employees and inmates; and provides technical assistance in inventory control, management, and ordering methods
Assists in maintaining security of assigned inmates
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE)
Four years full-time, wage-earning commissary, retail sales, or inventory management experience or three years full-time, wage-earning commissary, retail sales, or inventory management experience and one year full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience
Knowledge of inventory methods and procedures
Knowledge of inventory and stock control record keeping
Knowledge of automated inventory control systems
Knowledge of retail sales functions to include merchandise sales and displays
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Skill in problem-solving techniques
Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment
Skill to prepare and maintain complex records and files in an automated system
Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports
Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines
Skill in the electronic transmission of communications
Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 45 lbs. and over, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment
Preferred
Major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Accounting, or a related field preferred
Experience in the supervision of employees preferred
Experience with an automated point-of-sale system and retail sales preferred
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred
Skill to train and supervise employees and inmates preferred
