Executive Director of Career & Technical Education
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Executive Director of Career & Technical Education to oversee and enhance the district's career and technical education programs. This role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring educational pathways to prepare students for success in college and careers while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Responsibilities
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures including but not limited to the Comprehensive Local Needs Analysis
Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
Collaborate in the development of strategic plan to meet the objectives set forth by the Superintendent and the Board of Education
Provide leadership and direction for career and technical education, and other related programs, ensuring quality programs are available that meet students' needs
Develop and implement the annual Career and Technical Education Local Plan based on requirements of state and federal laws
Measure and analyze performance data to improve instruction and student performance
Coordinate the annual collection of data including: VEIS (Vocational Education Information System), academic, and technical measures to meet state and federal achievement benchmarks
Prepare and submit all necessary reports as required by the LEA, State Board of Education and federal law governing Career and Technical Education (Perkins Legislation)
Develop career, technical, and magnet programs that encourage exploration of various industries including STEM, trades, and school-selected curriculum
Oversee the presentation of both industry and higher education to ensure students have a clear understanding of a variety of career pathways
Collaborate with learning community leadership and staff to provide pathways and advanced coursework opportunities for students
Collaborate to create pathways to success for all students after graduation; work with school counselors to ensure students are enrolled in the appropriate courses and provided with opportunities
Collaborate to develop school-level strategies for implementing programs that are aligned with district initiatives
Engage in external partnerships to garner support for CMS financial and strategic postsecondary goals including Charlotte Executive Leadership Council (CELC), Queen City Collaborative, Leading on Opportunity, and Charlotte Works
Monitor and participate in the development and administration of the department budget
Facilitate professional development and attend other related meetings as needed/required
Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
Perform related work as assigned or required
Qualification
Required
Master's degree required
Valid, or ability to obtain, NC Career and Technical Education Administrator License (711) required
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience within the past eight (8) years as required to obtain license NC Career and Technical Education Administrator License (711) required
Comprehensive knowledge of the North Carolina Career and Technical Education curriculum and program
Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations relating to Career and Technical Education
Comprehensive knowledge on how to utilize appropriate data and information to make instructional decisions for students
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies/regulations regarding curriculum planning and organizational development
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of educational trends in career and technical education, magnet programs, and other related programs that prepare students for post-secondary success
Skilled in the use of current software to include word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing applications
Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to business needs
Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations
Ability to develop and monitor a budget
Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums
Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement
Ability to develop related charts, graphs, reports, and records pertaining to school planning and strategy
Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs
Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, planning, risk assessments, and associated risk mitigation actions
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
