Thomas Mechanical & Fire Protection is seeking skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and structures. The ideal candidate will have over five years of hands-on experience and a strong understanding of fabrication techniques.

Construction

Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal parts and products using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery
Installation: Install HVAC duct systems, roofing, siding, or other sheet metal components in accordance with project specifications and safety standards
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure precise fabrication and installation
Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, tolerances, and company quality standards
Welding & Joining: Perform MIG/TIG welding, riveting, soldering, and other metal-joining processes as needed
Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose issues, repair damaged components, and perform preventive maintenance on sheet metal systems
Safety & Compliance: Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently and accurately

Required

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic or in a similar trade
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred
Proficient in sheet metal fabrication, layout, and installation
Strong understanding of HVAC systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and stand for extended periods
Licenses/Certifications: OSHA safety training, welding certifications, or HVAC credentials a plus
