Medical Assistant - Quick Care (VW)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team, responsible for both clinical and administrative functions to ensure smooth operations and exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
Interview patients to obtain medical information and confirm purpose of visit
Copy immunization cards of all new children or, if none available in chart, of established patients
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms stocked, neat and clean
Sterilize instruments following sterilization guidelines and maintain accurate logs
Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; and taking blood pressure, height, weight and temperature
Record patients' medical history, vital signs and information such as test results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
Assist medical staff in examining and treating patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures
Perform various laboratory procedures to include urine analysis, cultures, immunization, Hgb, lead levels and EKGs
Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
Perform respiratory treatments, injections and immunizations according to TrueCare protocols or standing orders
Change dressings on wounds
Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients
Discharge patients from visit per patient discharge protocols
Schedule appointments for patients, as needed
Refer calls to medical staff when appropriate for emergency or medical questions
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical laboratory procedures and healthcare operations and work flow
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Medical Assistant Certificate (from an accredited school)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
Preferred
Associate's Degree in Healthcare related courses
At least one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred
Six (6) months of experience with documentation in an EHR system
Phlebotomy training strongly preferred
