Responsibilities
Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments of pipe, primarily from internal plant locations and customers
Ensure packing slips, bills of lading, and related paperwork are accurate and properly recorded
Write load diagrams for loaders and assist with loading, unloading, and reloading as needed
Maintain efficient and accurate inventory records
Organize pipe within the yard to maximize space and accessibility
Monitor inventory flow to support timely customer fulfillment
Manage the overall layout and organization of the yard to optimize efficiency and safety
Oversee yard maintenance, appearance, and preventative measures to reduce loss and damage
Operate forklift and heavy equipment as needed
Maintain responsibility for the overall safety of the yard
Enforce company safety policies and promote a safety-first culture
Ensure compliance with all relevant industry and company standards
Coordinate closely with production and sales teams to meet shipping schedules and forecast needs
Serve as a point of contact for distribution-related concerns
Support loaders and drivers in completing accurate and timely deliveries
Maintain all required shipping and inventory paperwork
Track records for auditing, loss prevention, and reporting
Communicate regularly with office staff and management regarding yard activity
Qualification
Required
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and take ownership of yard operations
Proficiency with inventory management tools
Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and load diagrams
Hands-on approach to yard operations, including operating forklifts
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
3+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or yard operations (manufacturing or construction industry preferred)
Forklift certification and experience required
Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation best practices a plus
