Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the radiologist, provides diagnostic service for patients of all ages undergoing diagnostic mammographic studies in the department of radiology
Must accurately interpret a physician’s instructions, routine procedural protocols, prepare and operate the radiographic and mammographic equipment, associated software and equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images
Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow
Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs
Maintain all aspects of the radiographic and mammographic area including technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance
Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety
Provide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules)
Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires. Continuously strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs
On-the-job training for those that are x-ray experienced and willing to be cross trained in mammography

Required

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), RT
Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR). Connecticut Radiographer License
Two years of Mammographic, CT scan, MR, and radiologic technologist experience
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
