They are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Pipe Foreman to oversee the installation of underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems, ensuring high-quality infrastructure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Construction

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a crew installing underground utilities including water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems for site development and design-build projects
Ensure all work is completed safely, especially during deep excavations using proper trenching and shoring methods
Coordinate traffic control setups and work around existing utilities
Oversee dewatering operations, bypass pumping, and use of heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and trench boxes
Perform and supervise leak testing, pipe alignment, grade checking, and installation of pipes such as PVC, DIP, and concrete in accordance with engineered plans
Install and oversee placement of manholes, catch basins, and stormwater structures
Maintain a clean and organized jobsite consistent with W.C. Spratt’s quality and safety standards
Read and interpret construction drawings; set up pipe lasers; apply grade and alignment data accurately
Maintain detailed daily records including project documentation, field reporting, and quality control checks
Communicate with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and team members on design-build projects

Required

Minimum 5 years' experience in underground utility construction (water, sewer, or storm systems)
Ability to read engineered plans, set grade, and operate layout/laser tools
Proficiency with jobsite documentation and field reporting using tablets or computers
Physically able to work in deep excavations and operate heavy equipment
Willingness to work on local projects within 50 miles of Fredericksburg; no extended travel
Punctual, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities

Preferred

OSHA 30-hour, Confined Space, and Competent Person certifications preferred
