Responsibilities

This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions
Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the program forward in innovative ways
As an adjunct at Bakersfield College, successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence
The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Health Information Technology and other Allied Health as needed
The primary assignment for Health Information Technology courses will be taught in an online format, but may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities
Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities and high schools using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, online and interactive broadcasts
Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation of programs for Allied Health; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; assessing student learning and program learning outcomes; collegial participation in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities

Required

Bachelor's degree(s) or higher AND two years of professional experience
OR Associate degree(s) AND six years of professional experience
OR the equivalent
(The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree.)
(Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCY form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form.)
A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission

Preferred

Successful teaching of ICD-10 and CPT courses
Experience with Canvas or other online learning management system
Ability and willingness to participate effectively in college committee work and in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to support students and the college
Ability to provide leadership within the program and on college initiatives to improve student learning
