Mechanical Design Engineer II (Mission Critical)

Henderson Engineers is a company focused on innovation and technical excellence in building design. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to join their Mission Critical team, primarily responsible for designing and redesigning data centers for clients across the United States.

Responsibilities

Design of core and shell layouts, data halls, and redesigns of data centers
Contributes to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs in response to current and future industry demands
BIM Mapping
Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects
Evaluates products for their application
Provides technical guidance to electrical designers
Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis
Maintains knowledge and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Products. Acts as a resource for training or assisting others as needed
Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards
Understands and applies Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies and procedures

Required

Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (ie: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 3 years of relevant experience or 6 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent is required
Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards required
Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu required
High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with designers at all levels in a clear and concise manner
Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, in group projects and leading less experienced designers. Ability to also work independently as needed
Adapts to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus
Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description

Preferred

Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
Additional certifications and accreditations aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) preferred
Certifications and accreditations aligned with sustainability backgrounds (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL, etc.) preferred
Knowledge applicable to a range of practices, project or program types preferred
