Zurich North America is hiring an experienced UA Manager – Middle Market to join our Middle Market team in Atlanta. This role involves overseeing underwriting processes, ensuring operational performance goals are met, and managing staff development and customer service responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals
Assess and evaluate underwriting processes in order to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvements
Follows up regularly with producers as needed to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process, and to develop appropriate action
Performs customer service and account management responsibilities, as needed, which may include resolving issues related to billing, making changes to policies, and answering policy coverage related questions
Participates in key account business relationships in person or teleconference with Underwriters
Conducts regular performance evaluations, ensures staff are meeting performance standards based on key operational performance metrics, staffing models and growth goals of the business units supported. Regularly conducts career development conversations with staff and creates robust development plans
Makes staffing decisions concerning hiring and guides staff development through identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks appropriately, and motivating staff to provide outstanding client service
Build insurance operations and underwriting skills and knowledge by participating in cross-training and learning additional processes and procedures to support multiple workflows and contribute to effectiveness of team operations
Builds strong relationships across the business. Takes leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings
Assisting to onboard and train new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters
Acts as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance

Required

Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years' experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area AND
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment

Preferred

Insurance certifications
People management experience
Experience working in a production and metrics performance environment
Knowledge of operational budgets
Knowledge of international insurance programs
