Responsibilities
Lead and execute month-end close cleanup, including backlog closes if needed
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
Review and correct journal entries, accruals, and account classifications
Identify and resolve historical discrepancies and reconciling items
Prepare or clean up monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
Ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting
Support management reporting and ad-hoc financial analysis
Review and improve close checklists, timelines, and documentation
Strengthen account reconciliations and internal controls
Partner with AP, AR, payroll, and external providers as needed
Support audit, tax, or lender requests with clean documentation
Assess current accounting systems and workflows
Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy
Support ERP or accounting system clean-up if required (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.)
Qualification
Required
7+ years of accounting experience with Controller-level responsibility
Strong month-end close and general ledger expertise
Proven experience cleaning up books in fast-paced or transitional environments
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
Preferred
Experience in PE-backed, high-growth, or professional services environments
CPA or public accounting background a plus (not required)
