Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, coordinating care with an integrated clinical team.

Responsibilities

Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals with mental health, substance use, dual diagnosis, and co-occurring disorders
Conducts psychiatric and addiction assessments, which include: mental status evaluation, current functioning, medical health screenings, current medication, and prior medication history, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning
Provides prescribing practice for prescription of medication (psychiatric and addiction medicine) and monitoring of symptoms related to the use of medication as assigned and supervised by the Medical Director
Provide psychopharmacology and addiction medicine services with a no four walls approach, when the need for stability is indicated
Serves as part of the ACT/IDDT team to ensure that persons served enrolled in the ACT/IDDT are obtaining immediate access to psychopharmacology and addiction medicine services, receiving stabilization services, and continued monitoring for acute symptomology. May intervene in emergency or crisis situations according to ACT/IDDT team protocol
Serves as part of the integrated services care team and multidisciplinary review team to enhance persons served experiences and maintain agency compliance with state regulations and mental health professional standards. Provides consultation and training to clinical staff as member of the integrated service team
Maintains records according to VOAMASS Policies and Procedures, completing all documentation and billing in a timely manner

Required

Nursing Certification as an ANCC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of Massachusetts with 2+ years of experience
A Master's Degree in Nursing & a current license as a nurse practitioner in the state of Massachusetts
A valid DEA registration with Schedule III authority
Must have experience in treating individuals who are receiving treatment for mental health, substance use, dual diagnosis, and co-occurring disorders
