Post Doctoral Fellow - Bioengineering
Clemson University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate for constructing a testbed relevant to the surfaces of marine vessels. The role involves working closely with optics experts and microbiologists to guide the design of beneficial microbial communities as part of a large interdisciplinary project.

Responsibilities
Construct a testbed that recreates several physical variables relevant to the surfaces of marine vessels, including shear forces, temperature, and pressure
Work closely with optics experts to integrate cutting-edge imaging equipment
Collaborate with microbiologists to understand and achieve design specifications
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in related field, e.g., Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics
Experience and skills relevant to the construction of testbeds or systems for in vitro characterization, including fluidics/microfluidics design, hydrodynamics, sensor integration, automation, Labview, 3D design/fab, etc
Understanding of, or strong interest in, biofilms and the engineering of microbial communities
Demonstrated ability to work in groups on integrated tasks, independently solve problems, and progress on challenging research endeavors in a timely fashion
Excellent communication skills, since there will be frequent presentation and reporting opportunities
