Responsibilities

Utilize engineering principles to develop and assess engineering drawings, ensuring they align with permit applications
Create and review necessary calculations, designs, and analyses to secure permits and address environmental concerns
Evaluate the environmental impacts of both proposed and existing transportation facilities, considering aspects such as landforms, water quality, land use, cultural resources, and the effects on threatened and endangered species
Conduct environmental analyses and prepare technical reports on hazardous waste, wetland investigations, and species assessments
Review studies related to natural resources and pollution control as part of the environmental clearance process
Research the potential impacts of transportation projects on various environmental and community factors
Fieldwork encompassing wetland identification, species surveys, waste investigations, and monitoring post-construction activities
Provide support to construction and maintenance teams in resolving issues

Qualification

Required

Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
