Youth Leadership Academy Student Intern

Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is seeking a Youth Leadership Academy Student Intern to work on regional planning initiatives and engage with high school students. The intern will gain hands-on experience in program coordination and curriculum development while supporting the Government & Public Affairs team.

Responsibilities

Help finalize the final group of selected students into the 2026 cohort
Be the lead point of contact for students, including sharing out schedules, regular communication, being available for questions, providing workshop summaries
Coordinate all logistics for the program, including Zoom technical support, identifying in-person locations and setting up, ordering food, planning transportation when needed, venue research, reaching out and scheduling all speakers
Helping strategize the curriculum
Other opportunities as available on the Government and Public Affairs team that can include: joining for other external partner events, assisting with routine partner meetings, research and analysis of our partner database

Required

Enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate level program at a college or university
Interest in practicing skills in event coordination and planning, communications, youth programming and development, and regional planning
Desire to learn more about local government processes and impact and how it relates to youth
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Interns must be actively enrolled in relevant coursework in an undergraduate or graduate program

Preferred

Potential study areas, but not required, could include: communications, journalism, graphic design, videography, public relations, or marketing, planning, social sciences
