Environmental Public Health Analyst DEHS - FAA00743 (Statistical Analyst II)
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is seeking a Statistical Analyst II for their Environmental Public Health Tracking Unit. This role involves conducting statistical analyses and managing data to influence environmental public health decisions and support various programs within the department.

Responsibilities
Independently develops and completes a range of analyses and reports using inferential statistical measures
Independently performs both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, including determining the appropriate software (e.g., R, SAS, and ArcGIS), determining statistically valid study designs, and determining appropriate statistical methodology is used to perform a wide variety of analyses of multiple data streams
Interprets results of these analyses and provides explanation for variances in measures used for program or research recommendations included in reports
Makes decisions and recommendations with only administrative review and acts independently based on the full knowledge of the unit's activities and missions
Provides statistical support for Tracking and other DEHS programs and staff as needed, and provides guidance and oversight of quantitative analysis projects of other statistical analysts
Consults on study design and statistical analysis methods across DEHS environmental programs and provides analytic support as needed
Responsible for the initial review of received data and communication with partner programs and staff regarding data quality and completeness
Performs centralized data management for Tracking and determines best practices for storage and management of data
Develops best practices for executing data use agreements and data management issues in Tracking
Acts as a resource to internal and external customers, responding to requests for information and presentations from the public, the media, CDPHE, and other environmental and health professionals
Qualification
Required
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position such as health-related statistical analysis, data science, or public health research
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years such as a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biostatistics, statistical analysis, mathematics, health information management, epidemiology, public health, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in role related to the work assigned to this position such as health-related statistical analysis, data science, or public health research

Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change based on CDPHE's business needs
The position will be expected to work on site at least two (2) days per week at 4300 S Cherry Creek Dr Glendale, CO 80246
Office hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm
Extended hours during the evening or the weekend MAY be required by business needs
Preferred
Master's degree or higher in public health, biostatistics, or epidemiology
Experience with RStudio is highly preferred
Experience with Tableau
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical, data analysis, and research abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Access and Excel databases
Proficient in Google applications
Ability to work independently as well as with a team
Familiarity with environmental exposures and related health outcomes
Ability to provide data in a nonpartisan manner and to provide objective information regardless of one's personal opinions
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
