Responsibilities

Develop equipment and processes for producing free-standing thin films of high strength and high heat-resistance in form factors suitable for assembly into IFE targets
Implement precision metrology appropriate for mass production of thin films
Assist with film coatings on substrates including non-planar substrates
Investigate other related materials issues needed in the production of targets at mass scale

Required

PhD or MS, or experience equivalent, in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Experience with polymer and polymer composite high performance free standing thin films
Strong analytical measurement skills

Preferred

Demonstrated ability to work with mass production machines or processes
Experience high temperature materials such as CNT, graphene oxide, carbon fiber
Experience with coating thick films on non-planar substrates
Familiarity with process scale-up or industrial mass production
