Engineer (Level 3)

Responsibilities
Perform complex engineering tasks to develop, integrate, and maintain systems and networks that support FAA communications and safeguard the operational integrity of the National Airspace System (NAS)
Conduct requirements analysis, assist with system design, and participate in integration activities across the system development lifecycle
Contribute to performance assessments, prepare and review engineering documentation, and ensure work aligns with FAA standards and cybersecurity policies
Help implement configuration management processes, support system testing and evaluation, and provide technical input during technical interchange meetings
Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot technical issues, contribute to the development of transition and implementation plans for new or upgraded systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate emerging technologies into NAS operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering field (systems, electronic, avionics, computer, etc.) (may be substituted for 5 years of relevant experience)
10-15 years experience (Master's Degree may be substitute for 3 years experience; PhD may be substituted for 7 years experience)
Strong background in requirements analysis, system design, and lifecycle engineering, with the ability to support both emerging and legacy systems
Experience conducting system performance assessments, testing and evaluation activities, and technical risk analyses
Working knowledge of communications systems and enterprise security engineering processes
Proficiency in configuration management (CM) practices, including tracking baselines, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits
Hands-on experience with network engineering and planning, including evaluating system changes for security and compliance impacts
Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity standards frameworks; ability to apply these in system integration and compliance activities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools (MS Teams, SharePoint, Jira/Confluence)
Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience preparing reports, test documentation, and presentations for mid-level management and technical teams
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, for which you must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred
Experience working with the FAA ATO is highly desired
Hands-on experience with system lifecycle management, including requirements development, integration, and system testing
Knowledge of federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks (NIST SP 800-series and FIPS)
Demonstrated ability to contribute to configuration management activities, technical audits, and compliance reviews
Experience supporting technical interchange meetings (TIMs), including the ability to present findings and provide recommendations to stakeholders
