Responsibilities

Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope
Drives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies
NTAP Environment Maintenance: Proactively monitor and maintain NTAP hardware and software, including storage arrays, controllers, and management interfaces
Coverage and Support: Provide daily coverage through coordinated shifts, ensuring support for network tests, troubleshooting, and operational requests
Testing Support: Set up, monitor, and assist with network and storage tests, including performance, failover, and interoperability scenarios
Incident Response: Respond to alerts and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to restore service and prevent recurrence
Routine Maintenance: Perform regular upgrades, patching, and configuration changes to keep NTAP systems secure and up to date
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, incidents, test results, and environment changes for compliance and knowledge sharing
Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, QA, and operations teams to coordinate testing, deployments, and support activities
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance system reliability, performance, and support processes; recommend and implement improvements
Security and Compliance: Ensure NTAP environment adheres to organizational security policies and compliance requirements

Required

Formal training and certification on infrastructure and network engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments. Strong understanding of network hardware and software, including storage provisioning, data protection, and performance optimization
Experience with network and storage monitoring tools (e.g., NetApp On Command, SolarWinds, Nagios)
Solid knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls) and their integration with storage systems
Ability to work in shifts or flexible schedules to provide extended coverage
Experience with incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in enterprise environments
Scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automating routine tasks and reporting
Effective communication and documentation skills, able to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to storage and network environments
Drives to continue to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product

Preferred

Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams and supporting complex deployments
