Responsibilities

Works under the direction of a Project Engineer as a lab technician or inspector, supporting all phases of civil construction projects such as roads, bridges, airports, and utilities
Monitors construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards, documenting contractor methods, quantities, and productivity
Performs field and lab testing of construction materials (e.g., asphalt, concrete, soil), collects and records data, and assists with surveys, computations, and project documentation
Supports project administration by preparing pay estimates, maintaining inspection diaries, and compiling materials records for project closeout and QA review
May be assigned to other DOT sections in the winter (e.g., Materials, Bridge, Design, ROW, Environmental) to provide technical support as needed

Required
