Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager leads projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring strategic planning, accurate estimating, risk management, and exceptional execution while providing guidance to Project Managers and Project Engineers.

Responsibilities
Provides direct leadership to Project Managers and Project Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and performance
Facilitates Project Team members' individual development and growth
Mediates internal and external conflicts to reflect Journey values
Manages and resolves employee relations issues
Attends weekly review meetings to collaborate with team on project progress, allocation of resources, and schedule
Supports broader business development and corporate endeavors as needed
Collaborates with other key departments including Lean, Quality, Safety, Marketing, HR, Training & Development, and other departments as needed
Must be able and willing to create and maintain a good working relationship with all employees within the team
Accountable for project success metrics including client satisfaction, profitability, schedule adherence, safety performance, and team development
Serves as executive lead on large, complex, or strategically significant projects-overseeing budget, schedule, and client engagement
Collaborates closely with Estimating, Field Supervision, Self-Perform, and Executive leadership to align project delivery strategy and resources
Manages overall project budget and profitability; analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to targets
Creates or reviews various aspects of project strategy, including contract review, bid package strategy, establishing subcontractor team, estimating strategy and more
Provides technical expertise and guidance to Project Managers and establishes project strategy
Evaluates the effectiveness of operational plans and proposes innovative direction for the division
Continuously reviews project teams' work against plans and progress toward targets
Establishes operational initiatives to improve delivery of projects in all areas: safety; collaboration with design, subcontractors and other third parties; Quality; Lean; Innovation
Cultivates relationships with designers, architects, subcontractors, and a broad range of community organizations
Represents the company in external project meetings, public forums, and industry associations as a senior leader and ambassador of the Journey brand
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field; 10+ years of relevant experience; or the equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position
Able to lead teams through construction technology platforms (e.g., Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, Primavera P6) and identify project risks early through proactive planning and analysis

Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism
In-depth analysis of construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
Strong leadership skills and ability to build a strong culture within project teams
Excellent oral communication skills and ability to present to groups
Excellent written communication skills and ability to provide written proposals
Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively mentor and guide others
Strong understanding of construction safety and commitment to Journey's safety program
Ability to draw from experience to provide conceptual cost and schedule analysis
Strong understanding and experience with budgeting and cost management
Deep understanding of planning and scheduling for construction projects and teams
Ability to lead through change and encourage innovation
Understanding of Lean-Last Planner concepts for construction planning and management
Strong planning and scheduling skills, including Lean-Last Planner process
Ability to interpret contracts and identify key components for contract negotiations
Knowledge of external market factors and conditions that impact the construction process
