Light Duty Master Mechanic

NEOGOV is seeking a Light Duty Master Mechanic to perform highly skilled automotive, truck, and equipment mechanical work. The role involves diagnosing and executing repairs on vehicles, maintaining records, and providing training to other staff members.

Responsibilities

Communicates with supervisory staff, drivers, and equipment operators to determine services needed and gather information necessary to diagnose problems
Provides on the job training and coaching of other employees, including mechanics, drivers, and equipment operators as necessary
Performs all levels of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, from basic preventive maintenance service and inspection to major mechanical work
Diagnoses and repairs electrical and electronic systems problems, and repairs and replaces defective electrical wiring. repair on engine, drive train, suspension, steering electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems. brake systems and components. in accordance with standard practices of the trade for gasoline, compressed natural gas
Assists in repair and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and the general housekeeping necessary to maintain a safe and productive working environment
Prepares written reports and enters data electronically into the City’s fleet management system
Completes and documents an average daily goal of predetermined hours labor per workday
Provides after-hours support to Fleet Operations when required
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

High school or equivalent
Five (5) years of experience as an automobile and light duty truck; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks
Current ASE Automobile and Light Truck certifications (A4-A7) series required, to include A4 – Brakes, A5 – Suspension and Steering, A6 – Electrical/Electronic systems, and A7 – Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
All Light Duty Master Mechanics must currently hold, or acquire the 609 HVAC Certification and Brake Certification provided by Fleet Management within one year of employment
Must provide a basic minimum set of mechanics tools as required by Fleet Management
