The Galvanizing Furnace Technologies Engineer is a process expert and Lead Engineer responsible for developing integrated process systems and coordinating technical interfaces within projects.

Responsibilities

The candidate has senior experience and expertise and freely offers support, mentoring, and approval of complex and specialized engineering tasks
Plans and develops integrated process systems including mechanical machinery, with graphical and functional descriptions of process controls
Coordinates all interfaces among technical and other involved departments within the project, such as schedule, technical completeness, technical standards, and safety planning and is the interface between Project Management and Engineering
Leads problem solving, technical clarifications, and coordinating approvals with customer and other involved stakeholders, such as customer consultants, consortium partners, and approval agencies
Able to work well and clearly communicate complex ideas orally and in writing in a global, multi-office company. Develops and maintains professional relationships at all levels. Conducts regular team meetings and design reviews
Supports installation, startup, and cold and hot commissioning activities
On occasion, travels to job sites and customer locations for meetings, construction, startup, and commissioning, sometimes with long working hours to accomplish success (both domestic and international)

Required

B.S. Engineering, with focus in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical technologies, or other process-related field, or presentable equivalent experience
Eight-ten years of technical work experience, with at least half in heavy industry or with large thermal processing equipment
Five or more years of direct experience with welded and/or bolted steel fabrications, piping and/or weldments
Two or more years of experience with managed projects in a leadership or direct support role

Preferred

Direct involvement with steel mill equipment, metals or other thermal processes
Areas of particular interest are combustion, recuperation, convection cooling, quenching, tempering, continuous annealing, galvanizing, atmosphere gases, piping, refractory insulation, combustion, material handling, and/or web/strip process design
Metallurgical properties or specialized atmosphere gases
Professional Engineering (PE), PMP, or CAPM certification
Knowledge of computer systems associated with discipline including 3D Inventor NFPA, FM, UL, NEC requirements
Electrical & automation concepts & understanding (PLCs)
