Responsibilities
Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks across all park facilities and structures
Assist with the construction of gates, repairing piers and docks, and replacing picnic grills and tables, as well as charcoal disposal units and park signage
Engage in grounds maintenance activities such as sand management, beach cleaning, brush hogging, mowing, and snow removal
Dig trenches for the installation or repair of waterlines, sewer lines, and drainage systems, as well as excavating foundations or footers for small construction projects
Load and haul materials like soil, sand, stone, and debris
Assist with various park maintenance duties, including litter collection, restroom cleaning, painting, tree planting, and garbage disposal
Help set up for special events at the park and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center
Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment, and recommend necessary replacements or purchases
Conduct safety checks and inspections of equipment, maintaining records for operated equipment, particularly for commercial vehicles over 32,000 pounds
Demonstrate the operation of assigned equipment to fellow employees and provide visitors with information about the park and surrounding areas, while reporting any observed violations to park rangers or managers
Work independently or lead a small team of semi-skilled laborers, and perform other related tasks as needed
Qualification
Required
One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
Any equivalent combination of experience or training
You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license
This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake restriction lifted that is not under suspension
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
