Responsibilities

Conducts on-site inspections of transit pads, bus bays, accessible ramps, sidewalks, handrails, and retaining walls using MAG, City of Phoenix, and ADAAG standards for conformance
Manages and assists with the development of the 5 year capital improvement program (CIP) for transit furniture/refurbishment program with use of Graphic Information System (GIS) database
Investigates and identifies future bus stop locations in conjunction with transit service planners to meet the needs of ongoing service improvements
Designs and prepares plans, specifications, and estimates for street related construction projects as related to transit pads and bus bays, including required utility permits
Provides contract oversight assistance for multiple facility service contracts
Reviews plans and specifications of public works construction projects to assure adherence to City standard details and specifications and other governmental agency requirements
Prepares technical charts, diagrams and transportation research concepts designed by professional consultants for use in presentations to transportation committees
Interprets and communicates City and Federal Regulations to the public
Investigates and responds directly to citizen concerns/complaints received through city management, the regional Customer Assistance System (CAS), and city website

Required

Five years of experience in paraprofessional engineering work
Including two years of paraprofessional civil engineering experience (or one year at the level of Senior Engineering Technician)
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage

Preferred

Supervisory experience
Experience using Graphic Information System (GIS) databases
Experience using Microsoft Excel for expense and data tracking
Experience reading and interpreting maps, graphs, charts, and plans
Experience using Microsoft Excel for managing and preparing technical data
Experience with contract oversight assistance for multiple facility service contracts
Experience preparing technical charts, diagrams, and layouts for use in presentations
Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications of street related projects to assure adherence to City standard details, specifications, and other governmental agency requirements
Experience performing on-site inspections of transit pads, bus bays, accessible ramps and sidewalks using MAG, City of Phoenix, and ADAAG standards for conformance
