Cyber Security Instructor

Intergenerational Computer Education is seeking a Cyber Security Instructor to deliver comprehensive cybersecurity education to high school students in their after-school program. The role involves teaching theoretical concepts, facilitating hands-on learning activities, and mentoring students to inspire them to pursue careers in cybersecurity.

Education Management

Responsibilities

Teach cybersecurity courses based on the curriculum developed by the Director of Cyber Security Programs
Utilize interactive and hands-on learning methods to engage students
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity
Serve as a mentor to students, providing guidance, support, and encouragement
Help students understand the practical applications of cybersecurity in real-world scenarios
Inspire students to explore and pursue careers in the cybersecurity field
Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and evaluations
Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and knowledge
Identify and support students who may need additional assistance or resources
Collaborate with the Director of Cyber Security Programs to refine and update course materials
Stay informed about the latest developments and trends in cybersecurity to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant
Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment
Address any classroom issues or disruptions in a professional manner
Ensure all classroom equipment and materials are used responsibly and maintained properly
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and cybersecurity knowledge
Attend meetings and collaborate with other instructors and program staff

Required

A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is recommended
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in education or a related field
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and tools
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to engage, mentor, and motivate students
Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Passionate about cybersecurity and education
Patient, approachable, and supportive in dealing with students
Committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment
Adaptable and open to feedback and continuous improvement

Preferred

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP) are highly desirable
Prior teaching or training experience is preferred, especially with high school students or young adults
