Responsibilities

Serves as an analyst/programmer team member for the Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS)
Perform analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support activities required to create or modify in-house applications used in support of the department’s data processing and information technology needs

Required

One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language
One year of the experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience
An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience
Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language
One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience

Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire
For some positions in these job classes, a background investigation including fingerprinting is required
Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions
Knowledge of architectural methodologies used in the design and development of information systems, including the physical structure of a system's internal operations and interactions with other systems
Knowledge of the principles and methods for designing business logic components, system processes and outputs, user interfaces, data inputs, and productivity tools
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures used for the automated control of a process, including the design, development, and maintenance of associated software, hardware, and systems
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools of quality assurance and quality control used to ensure a product fulfills functional requirements and standards
