Director of Maintenance and Operations

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a Director of Maintenance and Operations to implement and manage programs and policies within the department. This role involves overseeing the protection of the water environment through efficient wastewater collection and treatment, as well as managing stormwater infrastructure and treatment plants.

Responsibilities

Implements and manages programs and policies of the Maintenance and Operations Department, including protection of the water environment by collecting and treating wastewater in the most economical and environmentally sustainable manner possible, beneficially using biosolids and managing stormwater infrastructure
Directs the maintenance and operation of collection systems and seven treatment plants and ancillary pumping stations with combined capacity of 2.0 billion gallons per day

Qualification

Master’s degree in engineeringProfessional Engineer registrationStormwater/wastewater experienceUpper management experienceMaintenanceOperations expertise

Preferred

Master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
Twelve years of experience in the stormwater/wastewater field of which at least six years must have been in upper management positions
Several years of experience in the maintenance and operations of collection, stormwater and treatment infrastructure
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois
