COLUMBIA Class Construction Support Engineer- Experienced 1st Shift

The COLUMBIA Class Construction Support Engineer will provide engineering oversight and support during the construction of submarines, ensuring efficient completion of activities and interfacing with various teams to resolve issues.

Responsibilities
Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel
Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions
Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements
Providing direction and evaluation to Groton trades via disposition of CNs and TIR UNSATs
Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class
Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in the Groton shipyard
Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations
Facilitate implementation of the design, lessons learned, and process improvements
Facilitate discipline specific knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team
Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil or Marine Engineering
5+ years of discipline specific (structural, mechanical, piping or ventilation) engineering experience
Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required
Preferred
Prior deck plate construction experience is highly desirable
Familiarity with Electronic Desktop (7G, Work Orders, ELCADD, ERS, etc.)
Familiarity with Team Center (CR/CN experience)
Prior US Navy or operations experience
