2026 News Intern

U.S. News & World Report is a multifaceted digital media company dedicated to helping citizens and consumers make important decisions. The News Intern role offers early-career journalists the opportunity to gain experience in writing, fact-checking, and content production while working closely with the data team and contributing to social media efforts.

Responsibilities

Write articles for certain “Best” sections. Conceive of and execute newsletter items
Perform fact checking and copy editing
Assist with launches, such as the Best Countries launch or the Best States launch, if they occur during your tenure
Research topics, interviewees, dates and other elements of newsletter content
Assist with article production through our content management system (CMS)
Work closely with our data team to strengthen stories and potentially create data visualizations to enhance that work
Create and post videos and other content for social media posts
Actively and enthusiastically participate in trainings and team activities
Assist with research or administrative tasks as needed

Required

Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
All candidates must be able to work a hybrid in-office work schedule from our Washington, DC, or New York offices
Spring Internship for School Credit only
Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
Experience working in a team and collaborating effectively with others
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite, Google Docs and a range of social media platforms
3.0 GPA or above preferred
