Responsibilities

The Junior Specialists will be actively involved in biomedical research studies including questions in cell, molecular, computational, and developmental biology or related fields
Candidates will be expected to devote 30 hours per week to research
Research (95%) may involve laboratory work, computation, data analysis, participating in laboratory group and other meetings, and assisting with writing manuscripts for publication
The Junior Specialist will assist the PI or other academic members of the lab in areas such as study design, collecting and interpreting data, and revising plans for future experiments
University Service (5%) includes mentoring undergraduates or others in the lab

Required

Hold a bachelor's degree or be in progress to complete a bachelor's degree by the time of HIRE in a biomedically relevant science from an accredited US college or university
Intend to pursue doctoral study in the biomedical sciences, i.e., a PhD, MD/PhD, DDS/PhD, PharmD/PhD, or DVM/PhD degree
Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission
Applicants must also meet the eligibility requirements for the PREP program
3 letters of reference required

Preferred

Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or those who can demonstrate an ability to succeed in graduate-level coursework
Demonstrated ability to keep a complete and detailed laboratory notebook of experimental procedures and results
Ability to organize data and to archive, label and document graphic and tabular data for publication, proposals, and/or presentations
The candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills; as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
