Senior Accountant

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting for Catholic Charities. Responsibilities

Reconciles balance sheet accounts to Raisers Edge
Responsible for reviewing payroll to include timesheets, hours recorded, rates, taxes, check requests, and all other aspects of payroll
Responsible for reviewing cash receipts logs. Cash receipt logs originate from each office and are sent to the Junior Accountant. The Junior Accountant compiles the information onto summary logs, which are then submitted for review to the Senior Accountant
Responsible for processing the operating account bank reconciliation, preparing health insurance billing, recording in-kind donations/service hours, and various other month-end items
Prepares and posts month-end journal entries to include verification that all journal entries have been processed
Responsible for month-end reporting. Compiles monthly reports for the Executive Director, Office Directors, Program Directors, Treasurer of CSS Board, and Controller. Meets with the Executive Director monthly to review financial statements
Responsible for maintaining the budget process. Works with the Executive Director and Office Directors to plan and compile budgets. Maintains the budget throughout the year, making any adjustments needed
Responsible for working with Office Directors and Program Directors to ensure proper accounting procedures are being followed, grant requirements are being met, answering questions, and assisting in research
Responsible for processing sales tax returns
Responsible for the compilation of schedules to complete the annual financial audit
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field
At least three years' experience in accounting and auditing; preferably with a not-for-profit organization
Proficient with Excel and accounting software
Ability to work both independently and with a team

Preferred

CPA or MBA
Experience with Sage Intacct and Fund Accounting
