Assistant United States Attorney (Civil- Defensive)
The U.S. Attorneys Office is seeking an Assistant United States Attorney for the Civil Division, Defensive Unit located in Cleveland. This role involves representing the United States in various civil litigation matters, including tort actions and employment disputes, while working with a team to handle cases from start to finish.

Responsibilities
Represent the United States in civil litigation matters in the Northern District of Ohio
Litigate cases of moderate to high complexity from start to finish with limited supervision
Take depositions, obtain written discovery, engage in motion practice, negotiate settlements, try cases, and brief and argue appeals
Qualification
Required
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree
Be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
Have at least three (3) full years of post-bar admission professional attorney experience
United States citizenship is required

Strong academic credentials
Superior legal research and writing skills
Quick analytical ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical case-related issues
Courtroom experience
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with client agencies, support staff and other attorneys
Demonstrated commitment to public service
Excellent computer skills
Experience with automated research, electronic court filing, and various word-processing systems
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word
