Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will establish and maintain quality requirements to ensure products meet customer expectations and comply with industry standards, while supporting auditing activities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Establish, monitor and maintain quality requirements to ensure products meet customer expectations and comply with industry and regulatory requirements
Prepare quality assurance program and verification plans in accordance with customer order requirements
Develop, plan and deploy activities in the application and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, products and/or business systems
Establish and provide written procedures for quality assurance systems. Review and provide recommendations to the Quality Assurance programs
Perform quality assurance audits and surveillance of in-house and supplier’s facilities. Administer the audit system and establish audit procedures and checklists
Participate in customer audits and source inspections. Prepare responses to customer audit findings and complaints
Establish and support qualification procedures and administer employee training and certification programs for special processes including but not limited to heat treat, welding and non-destructive testing inspections
Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming materials
Establish sampling plans for acceptance of materials and products
Investigate causes of quality system failures and customer complaints and develop corrective actions to eliminate those causes. Administer the corrective action system
Prepare reports to management and customers regarding various processes, qualifications and problems. Provide indices for the various quality assurance programs
Develop and implement inspection and testing methods, including acceptance criteria to ensure contractual compliance
Review certifications of procured items to verify contractual and regulatory compliance (i.e. commercial grade degradation program.)
Review procedures, purchase orders, drawings, manufacturing travelers, process data, specifications, supplier documents, certifications and reports for adequacy and completeness
Coordinate customer and third-party source inspections with internal quality control staff
Compile and submit quality assurance documentation for customer approval
Prepare certification formats for certification of products
Participate in technical, quality and commercial meetings with customers and suppliers
Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, metallurgy or related science or equivalent education and experience
Knowledge of various exotic metals (i.e., titanium, stainless steel, Inconel and zirconium)
Knowledge of statistical process control methods and ISO standards
Ability to perform complex problem solving, analyze information and develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Ability to apply critical thinking techniques toward decision making
Strong written and verbal communication skills and interact with various job classifications
Preferred
5 plus years' quality engineering experience in manufacturing or military environment preferred
ASQ or Six Sigma Certificate preferred
Nuclear or radiation regulatory compliance experience preferred
General knowledge of nuclear commercial grade dedications preferred
