Responsibilities
Underwrite group health plans across fully insured, minimum premium, level-funded, and self-insured arrangements
Project future plan costs and assess carrier renewal actions for accuracy and competitiveness
Use actuarial modeling tools to develop alternative funding strategies, assess financial impact of plan design changes, and support strategic decision-making
Analyze claims utilization data to identify cost drivers and recommend financial strategies
Model employee contribution scenarios to support equitable benefit structures
Conduct holistic reviews of new business opportunities and present insights and recommendations to prospective clients
Stay current on industry trends and emerging cost containment strategies
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in group medical underwriting at a carrier and/or consulting firm
Active Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
