Public Health Data/Informatics Analyst I - Overdose Data Insights Analyst
Pima County is looking for a motivated and curious professional to join their Health Department as a Public Health Data/Informatics Analyst I - Overdose Data Insights Analyst. In this role, you’ll help drive data-informed decision-making within the Overdose Data to Action initiative by analyzing and visualizing public health data to inform prevention strategies and community health efforts.

Responsibilities
Conducts data analysis using established tools and techniques to extract insights from healthcare and public health datasets
Creates clear and effective data visualizations, such as charts and graphs, to communicate findings to stakeholders
Ensures data accuracy and reliability by implementing basic quality assurance procedures
Develops and produces routine reports and summaries based on public health data for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals and data experts, to support public health initiatives and projects
Maintains documentation of data analysis processes, data sources, and methodologies used for future reference
Adheres to data security protocols and assists in safeguarding sensitive healthcare and public health data
Stays informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to public health informatics through continuous learning and training
Provides support to more senior analysts on data analysis projects, including data collection, data cleaning, and basic project management tasks
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in public health, health education, computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), epidemiology, biostatistics or bioinformatics or a closely related field as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment and one year of data informatics experience
Two years of experience with Pima County performing duties related to data informatics and analysis
Valid driver license is required at time of application
Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment
Preferred
Experience with/knowledge of using Snowflake, SQL, R, Qlik, or ArcGIS
Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, health informatics, or a closely related field
Experience with/knowledge of conducting statistical modeling and interpreting results in a public health context
Experience preparing datasets for publication, sharing, or external collaboration in compliance with data governance standards
Experience with written and verbal communication, including translating complex data findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences
