Responsibilities

Lead projects from start to finish

Planning personal daily tasks and the work of other team members

Manage budget and schedule for the project’s resources and deliverables

Participate in or lead squad check drawing package reviews

Be able to read, interpret, and check vendor E&I drawings and vendor catalogs

Travel independently to and conduct site surveys to document electrical, instrumentation, and controls at existing client sites and facilities (< 5% of time)

Designing lighting, fire alarm, telecom, and security systems

Required

10-15 years of engineering design experience supporting oil and gas and heavy industrial projects or energy plants and industrial MEP facilities projects

Four-year engineering degree from an accredited university

Registered Professional Engineer (by exam) or capable of getting PE within 12 months

Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), especially hazardous locations

Working knowledge of relevant standards: UL, API, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, IBC, Life Safety Code

Proficient in interfacing with 480 V & below power electrical equipment (MCC & motor controls, transformers, ASDs, etc.) and calculations for conduit fill, voltage drop, sizing of transformers, conductors, panelboards, breakers, etc

Understanding of power system studies using EasyPower, SKM or ETAP

Experience with wiring diagrams, electrical interconnects, panel layouts, junction box design, PLC cabinet design, plot plans, loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&IDs, cable/conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, and electrical and instrument installation details

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit are a plus

Minimal supervision of scope development and technical details

Proficient in MS Word & Excel in creating documents from scratch

Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Work with clients one-on-one

Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Excellent mentoring skills to help train less experienced designers and engineers
