Applications Analyst

SoTalent is seeking an Applications Analyst to support the design, configuration, and optimization of Epic clinical applications. The role involves collaborating with clinical, operational, and technical teams to evaluate workflows, document system changes, and provide training and troubleshooting support for end users.

Responsibilities

Develop a strong understanding of clinical and business system functionality to provide informed recommendations on application use and configuration
Translate operational and end-user needs into clear functional and technical specifications that align with organizational IT standards
Evaluate departmental workflows, data capture processes, reporting needs, and technical constraints to inform system build and optimization decisions
Assess multiple solution options and select appropriate designs that meet clinical, regulatory, and operational requirements
Configure, validate, and maintain Epic functionality, ensuring changes are tested and approved prior to release
Retrieve and analyze data from multiple systems to produce structured reports with minimal oversight
Collaborate with Epic resources, internal IT teams, and user groups to ensure applications effectively support organizational goals
Communicate risks, system limitations, enhancement opportunities, and project status to senior team members and leadership
Independently manage assigned Epic implementations, upgrades, and testing activities
Create and execute comprehensive test plans to verify system behavior and performance
Capture and document business needs, system capabilities, and limitations in a clear and structured manner
Participate in project meetings, design discussions, and production support activities as assigned
Define project scope, timelines, and effort estimates for complex initiatives with limited supervision
Maintain accurate and complete system documentation in accordance with departmental standards
Provide production support by reviewing enhancement requests, prioritizing changes, coordinating releases, testing updates, and supporting interfaces
Partner with reporting teams to define report requirements and ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards
Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and IT stakeholders to support a positive team environment

Evaluates system behavior against specifications and identifies opportunities for improvement
Understands how system components, parameters, files, and data elements interact
Demonstrates familiarity with clinical documentation, order management, data conversion, and configuration tools
Analyzes end-user workflows and configures systems to streamline processes and reduce risk
Uses standard process-mapping and flowcharting techniques to document workflows
Possesses working knowledge of web-based platforms, analytics, and reporting tools
Delivers IT solutions across the full system lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, build, testing, deployment, and ongoing support
Applies industry best practices in systems analysis, quality assurance, and software testing
Solves complex, loosely defined problems using sound judgment and analytical reasoning
Communicates effectively through clear writing, active listening, and professional verbal communication
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred

Experience in clinical or IT domains such as Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency Services, Pharmacy, Oncology, Clinical Documentation, Radiology, Obstetrics, or similar areas is beneficial
