Responsibilities

Define and evolve Macabacus’ AI strategy — identifying where AI can create real productivity gains across Excel, PowerPoint, and broader M365 workflows

Design and prototype AI integrations (e.g., natural language formula creation, presentation automation, smart data insights, contextual assistants)

Establish policies for data handling, model selection, and third-party API usage consistent with enterprise security requirements

Assess LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, frameworks (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Semantic Kernel, LangChain) for use in production, and document-processing and chunking strategies using modern frameworks (e.g., Unstructured, Docling) to support retrieval-augmented generation and AI pipeline design

Partner with engineering to define system architecture and deployment pipelines; partner with product to validate user value and UX fit

Serve as Macabacus’ internal AI expert — advising leadership on technical feasibility, costs, and ethical considerations

Develop proofs of concept to explore new ideas and derisk feature concepts before full-scale development

Required

Strong background in AI/ML systems, software architecture, or product engineering

Experience integrating LLMs or generative AI into real-world applications (e.g., via Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, or similar)

Experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also acceptable), especially for deploying or integrating AI workloads

Understanding of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including M365 add-ins, COM/VSTO, web-based integrations, and extensibility of evolving technologies like M365 Copilot

Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and security frameworks for enterprise software

Excellent communication skills — able to explain AI capabilities and constraints to non-technical stakeholders

Passion for building tools that augment human productivity, not just showcase AI

Preferred

Experience with finance or professional services workflows (Excel modeling, PowerPoint automation, etc.)

Knowledge of VB.NET, C#, or Office JavaScript APIs

Prior work in AI product management or AI platform architecture roles
