Responsibilities
Understand the roadside assistance business and the company’s software
Understand the goals and responsibilities of Product Management
Understand how the applications interact with the data
Understand existing data science models and any caveats on those models
Build best-in-class predictive models and decision tools
Research & Development in transportation or roadside industries to improve cost and performance
Prioritize and balance data science research and speed of its implementation
Develop Proof-of-Concept ideas using data, data science and human behavior to improve our business processes
Identify issues and recommend testable improvements to different aspects of the business
Work with data engineering and infrastructure to get the data you need
Build and improve algorithms, ML pipelines and deploy them into production
Scale production ML code
Measure the impact of your work Use effective project and product planning technique to distill user requirements into its manageable components
Be a self-starter
Able to work independently and know when to reach out to stakeholders and teams for clarification
Work closely with manager and team to align work with business expectations
Communicate findings and quantify the improvements
Success metric = Everyone in the business should see what the development pipeline looks like and how it solves their issues
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) in a STEM or related quantitative field (economics, social sciences, finance)
4+ years of experience in using statistical and predictive modeling to algorithmically nudge human behavior in a desired direction
Experience in working with large datasets in a cloud environment
Experience with data in many forms in structured and unstructured formats (Redshift/Postgres/MySQL or DynamoDB databases)
Experience with large datasets in streaming format, large tables or flat files and have used big data tools (i.e. SageMaker, EMR, Spark) in AWS (Amazon Web Service)
Adept at coding and developing prototypes
Experience building machine learning models in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, AWS Sagemaker or related technology
Expert at SQL
Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines
Experience implementing ML Systems from automated training, modeling, serving, and modeling
Experience building a market place to find the market clearing events
Experience applying modeling techniques such as classification/regression, spatial analysis, and time series analysis
Experience using location-based data to solve the optimization of complex customized networks in the mobility space
Understanding on how to use Uber H3 hexagons is a plus
Experience designing A/B experiments and evaluating its effectiveness with statistical hypothesis testing and analysis
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate a complex data science concept simply in writing and in meetings
Ability to work well in a fast-paced changing environment and with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Technical expert in data science and programming
Ability to express ideas by building models, data analyses and visualization
Self-directed, can identify areas of improvements and ask the right questions
