Metric Geo is partnering with a leading heavy civil contractor in New Jersey to hire an experienced Estimator to support continued growth across major earthwork, utility, site development, and roadway projects statewide. The role involves preparing accurate estimates for heavy civil projects, reviewing project plans, and collaborating with project management to support bid strategies.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil projects including:

Earthwork and mass grading

Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)

Roadway & highway construction

Site development for commercial and industrial projects

Review project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and addenda to determine scope

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using estimating and takeoff software

Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing

Develop clear and comprehensive cost structures, including materials, labor, equipment, production rates, and risk factors

Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed

Partner with project management and field operations to support bid strategies and value engineering

Transition awarded bids into executed projects and assist with estimating-to-operations handoff

Maintain historical cost data and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
