Responsibilities
Manage the mechanical design, product development, production management, supply chain oversight, and quality & compliance aspects of hardware products
Utilize SolidWorks for complex 3D solid modeling, detailed assembly design, and creating production-ready 2D technical drawings
Lead R&D initiatives from prototyping through validation (FEA, thermal analysis, and physical testing)
Oversee manufacturing processes, implement Lean methodologies, manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and oversee procurement of raw materials and components
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
Expert-level experience in SolidWorks (Solid Modeling, Drafting, and PDM)
3-5+ years of experience in product development and manufacturing environments
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication) and Bill of Materials (BOM) management
Proven track record in supply chain logistics and production scheduling
Preferred
Experience with precision optical assemblies, lasers and microscopes
Experience with Product Life Cycle management practices
Experience with Environmental Testing
Experience with ERP/MRP systems for inventory and production tracking
Certifications in Six Sigma or Project Management (PMP)
Strong communication skills for collaborating with overseas suppliers and cross-functional internal teams
Experience with design for manufacturing
Ability to function both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to function without supervision in a laboratory environment
Flexibility in a startup and growth environment
