Responsibilities
Lead thermal engineering design and development for complex subsystems and integrated products
Drive engineering changes in compliance with internal quality and regulatory procedures
Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of all thermal designs and deliverables
Plan and allocate engineering resources across approved projects
Lead root cause analysis and technical problem-solving for thermal and environmental challenges
Ensure compliance with verification, validation, and testing requirements
Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, systems, software, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing teams
Lead design optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
Establish best practices across design, lab procedures, testing, and documentation
Support multi-site collaboration with occasional travel (Tarrytown, NY and Glasgow, DE)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
10–15+ years of experience designing and developing complex instrumentation
Strong background in thermal engineering principles (conduction, convection, energy conservation)
Experience designing thermal hardware (Peltier devices, heaters, sensors, cooled compartments)
Hands-on experience with simulation, experimentation, and test correlation
Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (NX preferred) and PLM systems
Understanding of DfSS methodologies
Familiarity with manufacturing processes (plastic injection molding, sheet metal, machining, castings)
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
