Responsibilities

Lead thermal design and environmental control for complex diagnostic instruments
Own design quality, verification, testing, and compliance with internal quality procedures
Drive thermal root-cause analysis, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
Coordinate cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Software, Firmware, Reliability)
Manage resources, schedules, and deliverables for approved projects
Apply simulation-driven design; define experiments to close model gaps
Support multi-site collaboration and occasional travel (Tarrytown, NY / Glasgow, DE)

Required

BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
10–15+ years experience in thermal engineering for complex instrumentation
Strong expertise in thermal management (conduction, convection, environmental control)
Hands-on experience with thermal hardware (Peltier devices, heaters, sensors, cooled systems)
Model-based design experience; simulation and experimental validation
Proficiency with 3D CAD (NX preferred) and PLM systems
Strong system-level thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

Experience in medical devices or regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, semiconductor)
Exposure to Agile/Scrum and DfSS methodologies
Manufacturing knowledge (plastic molding, sheet metal, castings, machining)
Leadership or project management experience within engineering teams
