Responsibilities

Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies, and procedures adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and industry best practices
Responsible for the accuracy of all financial reporting, including the annual audited financial statements and quarterly call reports
Oversee the daily balance sheet and daily cash management report to ensure the credit union is compliant with its established liquidity and concentration limit guidelines
Responsible for running and maintaining the accuracy of the Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) model. This entails reconciling the model data to the core data, file validation, recording the monthly estimate for the allowance for credit loss, analyzing variances and preparing reports for management
Responsible for the Asset Liability Management (ALM) model, including testing of assumptions, data accuracy and production of reports for management and the Board of Directors. Provide technical expertise, analytics, and actionable recommendations as a key leader of ALM Committee
Participate in all Retirement Plan Committee meetings as the primary Accounting liaison for the Pension Committee
Participate in all Investment Committee meetings as a member of the committee with full investment authority according to the Investment Policy approved by the Board of Directors
Oversee and manage the accounts payable function for the Credit Union in compliance with the Credit Union’s Purchasing Policy. Maintain a current inventory of contracts and pricing information for all the vendors in accordance with the credit union’s vendor management procedures. Supervise the timely payments of vendor invoices, employees/volunteer vouchers, and payments related to the indirect lending program
Responsible for conducting reviews of new and ongoing vendor management for contracts related to the Accounting functions. Analyze the obligations and liabilities to ensure the credit union is protected
Lead the preparation for the annual CPA audit and act as the main management liaison for the CPA audit. Complete the required disclosures for the annual financial footnotes
Provide leadership for the preparation of the annual budget with the CFO and Accounting staff
Attend monthly Board Meetings as requested by the CFO or CEO
Maintain an awareness of laws and regulations that impact accounting, internal audit, risk management and compliance by attending conferences/seminars and reading trade publications
Establish and maintain networking relationships throughout the community through involvement and participation in business, social, community and/or political committees, Boards or other activities
Provide a positive example to all areas in the credit union through his/her interactions with others
Participate in special assignments, projects and committees as requested by the Chief Financial Officer

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or MBA
CPA certification required
10 + years commensurate work experience required
A minimum of 7 years' experience in financial management in a dynamic financial environment required
Must possess extensive knowledge of regulations that impact the credit union's Accounting and Finance
Must possess understanding of financial products and services
Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing at a professional business level
Ability to act independently
Ability to make effective decisions in a reasonable time frame
Ability to identify and correct areas of inefficiency
